100 WRITERS _____ Hanging out with the NaNoWriMo SG tribe

NOTE: This is part of my 100 WRITERS project. We had a great launch session hosted by StoryCode SG.

It's been a few years since I tried the National Novel Writing Month challenge. You basically spend your November trying to write a novel 50,000 words long. There's also an official website that lets you track your progress and connect with other writers who are doing the same. Especially those who happen to be close to where you live. Since I started Super Cool Books four years ago, my Novembers have been packed with all sorts of holiday promotion activities. Not much room for me to focus on creating an entire novel. Still, I was very happy to connect with the local NaNoWriMo organisers this year. That would be Joelyn Alexandra and Sarah Coldheart. I recently featured them on this blog, you can read their interview here. They also spoke at my first 100 WRITERS x StoryCode SG meetup. Last week I got invited to their NaNoWriMo closing party, where I met many enthusiastic writers and had wonderful conversations about story ideas and epic plot structures and all sorts of geeky pop culture obsessions. Also, I had a slice of the legendary NaNoWriMo cake. Happiness. Here are some of my photos. If you're a writer yourself, you might like to give this challenge a shot next year. Get in touch with the group and join their write-ins. I'll see you at the party!
