GREAT KIDLIT SHOWCASE 2019 _____ Meet Andy Chen, he's not a creative person and doesn’t normally have ideas for stories

Time for holiday reading! To celebrate 8 years of Super Cool Books, I’ll be featuring a mega list of fellow kidlit writers and illustrators both from Singapore and beyond. New interviews every week. Do introduce their books to some young readers in your life! Latest updates here.

How did you get started?
Had a story to tell inspired by my children’s love of swings

Where do you get story ideas?
I don’t normally have ideas for stories, not a creative person. The book is really an exception

Pick one book of yours that kids should read
Kids should just read good, well-written stories, period. Doesn’t have to be mine.

Tip for parents, how to help kids enjoy reading
Read consistently to them from young

Tip for aspiring kidlit writers
Don’t, actually. You’re almost always not nearly as good as you think.

Your big wish for kidlit publishing next year (2020)?
Not more Geronimo Stilton books.

Website: None
Instagram: None that I use regularly
