Quiet, sensitive, lyrical, fun
How did you get started?
I was inspired to write a story to help my little boy through some issues he was facing at the time.
Where do you get story ideas?
I get them from my kids, from the world around me, and sometimes they just fall from the sky!
Pick one book of yours that kids should read
HELLO GOODBYE LITTLE ISLAND is for kids who are struggling with big change, showing them they are not alone.
Tip for parents, how to help kids enjoy reading
Read with your kids every day. Read for the fun of reading. Chose books that you both enjoy.
Tip for aspiring kidlit writers
Try to get down on your hands and knees to see the world from the height of a child. We forget what it's like to be small.
Your big wish for kidlit publishing next year (2020)?
We've improved on the front of representation in kidlit but we still have a long way to go. I hope all children can see themselves in the books they read!
